WHAT TO EXPECT
Please note this class will be conducted live via Zoom.
This programme will introduce the basics of robotics and visual coding using the Micro:bit platform. Students will learn how to digitally manipulate a virtual Micro:bit device, its various input and output functions and also create simple and fun-to-interact games. There will be two levels for this programme:
Learn about the Micro:bit, its parts and main functions
Understand inputs and outputs
Push buttons, LEDs, basic start/pause statements
Simple logic, loops, rock-paper-scissors game
Learn about a servo motor
Create a windshield wiper simulation
Multiple conditions, nested if statements, variables
Visual block-based coding

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. My child has no coding/robotics background. Would this be an issue?
No problem at all! The Micro:bit is deliberately chosen as an ideal introduction to coding for absolute beginners. Kids will be using a visual, block-based editor that will get them programming in a matter of minutes. We will be focusing on the concepts of coding, not its mechanics.
2. Any minimum number of participants required?
Yes, a minimum of 6 participants is required for this course to run. Any event of cancellation will be made known to registered participants at least 1 week prior to commencement.
